The great climbs of the Giro d’Italia. Screening of unpublished films with original live music by Rossella Spinosa. Saturday 14 May 2022 is scheduled for the fifth appointment of the Cinema Ciclismo Turismo project at the Ghisallo Museum, the innovative multisensory project of the Ghisallo Museum, promoted by Lombardia Musica in synergy with the Ghisallo Museum.
The project, carried out as part of the two-year program of the cultural district of Lake Como called PIC, A TESORO DI TERRITORIO, financed by the Lombardy Region and coordinated and supported by the Como-Lecco Chamber of Commerce, aims to represent a new way for the full enhancement of an important territorial resource, such as the Museum located in the Municipality of Magreglio.
The Giro d’Italia enters the heart of its great stage race event, the toughest in the world. And the Ghisallo Museum promotes a soundtrack of emotions composed ad hoc to celebrate the epic of the Corsa Rosa. In full swing of the Giro d’Italia 2022, the encounter with Rossella Spinosa’s music could only put the right relationship and climb the mountains. The tribute will be dedicated to the great climbs of the Giro d’Italia, those that in people’s imagination have marked glory or bitter defeats
The Stelvio pass, with its endless bends, the Gavia pass with spectacular views and the Mortirolo pass with its prohibitive slopes, are the most sought-after cycling climbs in the world, which for years have been the scene of great challenges and epic feats: retrace them with the notes of Rossella Spinosa it means making them eternal to the senses.
Images, in black and white and in color, celebrate the Italian champions who managed to excel in this race, which is a real test of endurance, physical and tactical with the accompaniment of the unpublished notes of Maestro Rossella Spinosa for a new multisensory experience that it enriches the iconographic and musical heritage of the Digital Archive.
On the musical front, for this episode dedicated to the big climbs, music thanks to Rossella Spinosa will try to interpret the spirit of this race.
“The Great Ascents: the title of this movie (and the content even more) gives the idea of fatigue, effort, tenacity, determination. These are the 4 sensory stimuli to vision that I have tried to render also musically. It is once again a dense music, pushed towards the top, full of tension and deliberately “non-stop”, as is the race represented in it “.
This is the compositional choice of Rossella Spinosa, teacher at the Conservatory of Mantua, the Maestro has always composed music for silent cinema and to date has made over 120 film titles, becoming a reference point for film libraries, theaters and orchestras.
THE CCT PROJECT – Cinema, Cycling, Tourism at the Ghisallo Museum.
Also this year the activity will be concentrated in the cinema hall of the Museum, with the realization of a series of events dedicated to the rediscovery of a special filmic heritage, that is non-sound, with live music, with original music, as well as with the rediscovery of documentaries. and materials from the Digital Archive of the Ghisallo Museums and AcdB, capable of narrating the history of cycling. Nonetheless, the project aims to represent an innovative push to tourism, through a rediscovery of our territory, with the assembly of special videos of the enhancement of the places, of its changes over time, with a special focus always on sport (cycling naturally in priority manner).
The induced effect, successfully experienced as early as 2021 (despite the Pandemic!) Is to create events capable of attracting the public and visitors. The compositional soul of the entire project is Rossella Spinosa, one of the most esteemed and internationally established composers in the soundtrack of silent cinema, who has to date set music over 120 historical films, becoming the musical signature of the Humanitarian Film Archive for several years.
