At the Conference Hall of the Madonna del Ghisallo Cycling Museum in Magreglio (CO) a public meeting is scheduled for Thursday, 6 June at 11:30 a.m. with Tour de France director Christian Prudhomme, who will pay a special visit to the Museum and to the Ghisallo In Giallo Exhibition, which tells the story and the epic tale of the Tour de France, inaugurated last 20 April (open until September).
The director of the Grande Boucle arrives from France, just a few weeks before the grand departure of the Tour in Italy, and thus ideally starts the countdown to the Tour in Italy, in a place that represents the history and future of cycling. It starts at the Ghisallo Cycling Museum with the blessing of the Madonna del Ghisallo, in the neighbouring Sanctuary, which will be visited for the occasion by Prudhomme. At the meeting in the conference room (for accredited participants only), with Tour director Christian Prudhomme and APT Emilia Romagna president Davide Cassani, there will be authorities, collectors, friends and journalists, to welcome the Tour by highlighting the history and present of the Tour of France.
The Home of the Cyclists, founded by Fiorenzo Magni on 14 October 2006, becomes even more international on this official day of Italy-France twinning: Doing the honours, in addition to the president of the Foundation Madonna del Ghisallo Cycling Museum, Antonio Molteni with the director of the Museum Carola Gentilini, there will be Alessandro Fermi, Councillor for University, Research and Innovation of the Lombardy Region, Patrizia Mazza, president of the Mountain Community Lariano Triangle, Danilo Bianchi, mayor of Magreglio with Angelo Barindelli, mayor of Bellagio, and for the first time also François Bonet, Consul General of France.
History and the present of Italian cycling characterise this meeting that opens the doors to the 111th edition of the Tour, from 29 June 2024, with the unprecedented start from Italy, with its three initial stages: the Florence-Rimini, the Cesenatico-Bologna, the Piacenza-Turin in memory of Bartali, Pantani and Coppi. The meeting will be attended by Elisabetta Nencini and Marina Coppi, daughters of the legendary champions Gastone and Fausto. Representing the Cycling Museums and private collections were Roberto Livraghi director of the Alessandria City of Bicycles Museum and Giorgio Cimurri, among the organisers Renzo Oldani, president of Tre Valli Varesine, Gianni Torriani son of patron Vincenzo, among the technicians Roberto Damiani, Gianluigi Stanga.
Beppe Conti, journalist, writer and historian of Raisport will have the task of closing the meeting with Prudhomme by taking us through the words, memorabilia, images, history, of the Ghisallo in Giallo exhibition: the whole story and epic of the Tour de France in a successful exhibition just over a month after its inauguration.
