THE MADONNA DEL GHISALLO CYCLING MUSEUM REOPENS ON 1 MARCH AND ANNOUNCES AN EVENT DEDICATED TO THE EXTRAORDINARY CHAMPION NICOLE COOKE (8 MARCH)
Magreglio (CO), Ghisallo Cycling Museum – The Madonna del Ghisallo Cycling Museum in Magreglio (Como) received a very welcome visit this morning (3 February): in fact, the champion Nicole Cooke arrived from nearby Switzerland, personally bringing some memorabilia to enrich the Ghisallo Collection.
The Museum reopens for its 2025 season on the first day of March and the world champion has announced her availability to be the focus of an event open to the public on the iconic 8 March, Women’s Day. For the occasion, fans will find valuable memorabilia at the museum that chronicles some of the milestones of Nicole Cooke’s incredible racing career, namely:
- The world road champion’s jersey, won in Varese in 2008;
- A pink jersey from the 2004 Giro d’Italia victory;
- The bicycle used during the 2004 Giro.
The programme of the day with Nicole Cooke at the Museum – 8 March – also includes a talk with journalists and sports guests to explore the key issues of women’s cycling and gender sport, but above all, in agreement with the Fondazione Museo del Ciclismo Madonna del Ghisallo di Magreglio, the ‘Cooke Day’ will be dedicated to the memory of the Italian rider Sara Piffer, who tragically died in an absurd accident while training on her roads in Trentino, to raise awareness of road safety, a fundamental issue for the world of cycling and beyond. The Museum officially reopens on 1 March 2025 and for the occasion two iconic symbols of the most beautiful cycling rivalry have confirmed their participation, namely Gianni Bugno and Claudio Chiappucci, who will be further narrated by the voice of the journalist and historical cycling chronicler par excellence, Beppe Conti, who will present his book on the men of the great cycling feats (Imprese leggendarie del ciclismo, Graphot ED).
