The rainbow jersey of Giuseppe Soldi, the climbing specialist who on September 2, 1965, won the 100-kilometer team world championship with the Italian National team, has today been placed in the display cases of the Madonna del Ghisallo Cycling Museum. It was donated by his son Luca and grandson Nicolò, welcomed by the director Carola Gentilini: a gesture that forever connects the champion from Cremona—who passed away in early July at the age of 85—to the “Cyclists’ Sanctuary” of Magreglio, alongside the memorabilia of the greatest legends.

Soldi, born in Stagno Lombardo, saw his career interrupted twice by serious accidents: first before turning professional (1961) and then, shortly after joining Bianchi, in 1966. Despite this, he managed to reinvent himself as an amateur, achieving another 150 victories and, in 2021, receiving the CONI Gold Collar. “Now you can race again as fast as you always knew how to. Goodbye, great Dad,” Luca had written in his farewell message. Today, that rainbow jersey returns to the public the story of an athlete who never stopped believing, turning every comeback into a new goal.
