Friday, May 29, the Teatro degli Astrusi, at 6:00 PM, will host an event dedicated to the memory of Fausto Coppi through storytelling, music, and cycling culture.
(Montalcino, May 19, 2026) – “Coppi Is Music” will be one of the special events featured in the Eroica® Montalcino 2026 program. In collaboration with Banfi, on Friday, May 29, the Teatro degli Astrusi in Montalcino will host, at 6:00 PM, an event dedicated to the memory of Fausto Coppi, combining storytelling, music, and cycling culture.
The event stems from the collaboration between Banfi and Eroica, a partnership that has accompanied Eroica® Montalcino since its first edition in 2017 and that, year after year, has grown into a shared journey of values and vision. Banfi and Eroica® share the same commitment to authenticity, sustainability, and respect for time, as well as the desire to preserve and enhance the unique heritage represented by the Montalcino territory. A deep synergy, nurtured by a love for this land, which also finds concrete expression in the Poggio alle Mura cycling team: born as a small group of enthusiasts, it now includes more than fifty cyclists and has become one of the most authentic symbols of this partnership over time.
The first part of the event will be a discussion centered on the book “Fausto, My Coppi” by Luciana Rota, published by Lab DFG. The journalist and author, recipient of the 2026 De Zan Award, will be joined in conversation by journalist Lina Senserini. Taking the stage will also be Giancarlo Brocci, founder of Eroica®, Franco Rossi, President of Eroica®, Cristina Mariani-May, CEO and President of Banfi Società Agricola Srl, and Rodolfo Maralli, President of Banfi Srl.
The second part of the evening will move into the musical and theatrical dimension of “Coppi Is Music”, featuring readings, spoken narratives, and performances dedicated to the Campionissimo and the epic story of great Italian cycling. The musical program will be curated by Alessandro Galli, editor of Biciclette d’Epoca, musician, singer-songwriter, and author who has long been committed to promoting the cultural heritage of historic cycling.
It will once again be an evening filled with emotion, thanks to the repertoire of MIC – Musica Italiana Cantautorale, featuring Alessandro Galli on vocals and guitar and Elisabetta Daolio on flute. The words will speak directly to the heart, drawn from the diary of Bruna Ciampolini Coppi, the first wife of the Campionissimo. The diary, once entrusted to the sensitivity of Franco Rota, was later transcribed by his daughter into this successful novel: “A Love Story Uphill.”
Adding to the atmosphere and appeal of the stage will be the presence of the original bicycle used by Fausto Coppi for his Hour Record at the Vigorelli Velodrome on 7 November 1942. The bicycle comes from the collection of the Madonna del Ghisallo Cycling Museum in Magreglio, the largest museum in the world dedicated not to a single champion, but to all cyclists.
At the end of the event, admission is free, followed by a special aperitif and… rosé!
