6th stage of the SYSTEM CARS CLIMBER TROPHY – FABIO FABIANI
As in previous years, at the request of loyal cyclists, FABIO CASARTELLI maintains the inclusion of timed sections on the Ghisallo and Muro di Sormano climbs. The event will therefore have the innovative RALLY formula with transfer sections and timed sections and will be the 2° LARIO CYCLING RALLY.
Furthermore, to expand the possibility of participating for cycle tourists and amateurs, cyclists with a non-competitive certificate of competence and with pedal-assisted bikes will also be able to participate in the short route (C).
The 27th FABIO CASARTELLI – 2° RALLY CICLISTICO DEL LARIO will be valid as the 6th stage of the SYSTEM CARS – FABIO FABIANI CLIMBER TROPHY, assigning the scores required by the special Challenge regulations.
We will always start “at the Francese” to avoid creating traffic problems and, while the short route (C) will climb the Onno climb arriving in Albese after 58 km, the two routes, medium (M) of km 75 and long (L) of km 107 will reach Bellagio and climb the timed Ghisallo climb which, in the timed section, will still be open to traffic. Participants must comply with the Highway Code. At the end of the Ghisallo climb, everyone can refuel and access the Ghisallo Cycling Museum at a reduced price (members can also access the Ghisallo Museum the day before the event by showing their registration or race number).
From the summit of Ghisallo, you can get back on your bike to reach Albese for the medium route, while for those with sufficient legs, after Lasnigo and before Asso, you turn right to climb Colma di Sormano and for those who like to take the time trial, the legendary Muro di Sormano is open exclusively. Refueling is also planned at the top of Colma di Sormano before descending towards Lake Como at Nesso, following the lake shore to Como, as on the Giro di Lombardia route and returning to Albese by climbing from Camnago Volta.
For clubs, there is a team ranking with scores assigned based on the km covered by their athletes.
For members with competitive fitness visits, individual rankings are provided:
- for those who take the medium route, or the long route by climbing the Colma di Sormano bypassing the Muro climb, based on the times on the Ghisallo climb;
- for those who take the long route with the ascent of the Muro di Sormano by adding the travel times in the timed sections of the Ghisallo and the Muro di Sormano;
- for those who do the short course regularity race.
As always, other prizes may be awarded BY LOT drawn from all participants/subscribers using the bib number.
As anticipated, FABIO CASARTELLI aims to be A CELEBRATION FOR FABIO with timing only the indicated sections of the climb, while the rest of the route is considered a transfer in which cyclists will consider themselves on free excursion and therefore must strictly comply with the Highway Code.
